Clackamas County Animal Education and Adoption Center Volunteers

If you are interested in hands-on volunteering at the shelter, you are also welcome to become cross-trained as a volunteer with the Clackamas County Dog Services volunteer program which includes the following teams:

• Greeters – perfect for out-going people, this position offers a friendly greeting to visiting patrons, assistance finding their way around, answering questions, radioing for staff, etc. Great customer service skills are a must.
Shifts available Tues-Sat, 11:30am-5:00pm (Saturday is our greatest need)

• Housekeeping – assist with daily operations including cleaning, laundry, dishes, stuffing Kongs, poop patrol and gardening.
Shifts available Mon-Sat, 8:00am-5:00pm

Jaime7• Read & Relax – living in a shelter is stressful; it’s noisy and foreign. Reading & Relax volunteers sit outside a dog’s gate and simply read aloud. This simple task is very calming, so our youth reading program is a win-win:  the dogs get the comfort of being read to, and the children get to practice reading to a completely non-judgmental audience! Adults are welcome to participate in this program.
Shifts available Mon-Fri, 2:00-4:00pm

• Dog Potty Walkers – morning and afternoon shifts provide the dogs with the opportunity to relieve themselves outside. (Rain or shine!);
Two shifts available: 8:30-11:00am, & 3:00-4:30pm

• S.E.T. Team Volunteers – work to maintain the mental & emotional health of the dogs through Socialization, Enrichment, and Training.  S.E.T. team volunteers provide enrichment games & activities, maintain sociability, and teach new behaviors.  This all serves to create a connection with potential adopters.
Shifts available Mon-Sat, 11:00am-3:00pm

• Admin Support – typical clerical duties: filing, data input, answering phones, processing received mail, contacting dog owners by phone in reference to lost and found dogs as well as post-adoption follow up calls.
Shifts available Mon-Sat, 8:00am-5:00pm
